Plastic Mould Steel
Plastic Mould Steel refers to a group of tool steels specifically developed for manufacturing plastic injection molds, compression molds, and molding components. These steels are engineered to offer a good combination of strength, hardness, polishability, and thermal conductivity, all critical in molding plastic parts with high precision and surface finish. Unlike cold or hot work tool steels, plastic mould steels are typically used at lower operating temperatures, but they still need to withstand cyclic thermal stresses, wear from plastic materials, and occasionally corrosive additives. They are available in pre-hardened, through-hardened, or hardenable grades, depending on the mold's complexity and production volume.
